The 12th Man
I had the pleasure of working on the set of the Norwegian film ‘The 12th Man’ when they landed in North Berwick to film a major scene. As a part of the Scottish H&M crew with Angela Moffat and Jacki McNally (Wardrobe), we made up 20 soldiers starting at 5 a.m. for short back and sides, period army cuts, and making them look suitably dirty. It was an epic day, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.
The film is directed by Harold Zwart and shot by DOP Geir Hartly Andreassen. It is produced by Motion Blur and follows the story of Jan Baalsrud, a Norwegian resistance fighter during World War II who is on the run from the Gestapo. The film is a true story of survival, and it showcases the beautiful landscapes of Scotland.
As a film location, Scotland offers a diverse range of stunning landscapes, from the rugged coastline to the rolling hills and picturesque villages. The breathtaking scenery provides the perfect backdrop for any film, and it is no wonder that so many productions choose to film here.
David Neilson from Filming Scotland played a crucial role in getting us on board, and we were delighted to be a part of this exciting project. Working on the set of ‘The 12th Man’ was an unforgettable experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a talented crew.
Overall, it was an honour to be a part of the film industry in Scotland and to work on such an incredible project. I look forward to seeing the final product and am excited to see how Scotland is portrayed on the big screen.
